Volunteer
PADS is a volunteer-driven organization. Without our many wonderful volunteers, our programs would simply not be able to function. The first step for all potential PADS volunteers is to attend a Volunteer Orientation Session check here for upcoming dates in Burnaby and Calgary. Below are some brief descriptions of the many ways you can get involved with PADS!
PUPPY-RAISINGFostering a puppy-in-training in your home for the first year of its life. Socialize the puppy to the human world by taking it everywhere with you and teach him/her basic obedience. Attending weekly puppy classes & monthly field trips are mandatory.
Location: Lower Mainland and Calgary Area
Time Commitment: Full time

PUPPY-SITTING
(Note: We require long terms sitters ~ 2 weeks or longer.)
Provide a home for puppies in training on weekends or for varying periods of time when their puppy-raisers are away.
Location: Lower Mainland and Calgary
Time Commitment: Flexible. You choose when you are available to puppy sit.

BREEDER CARETAKERS
Can't give a puppy up? Provide a home for one of the dogs in our breeding program. If providing a home to a female, you must be able to care for puppies from birth to 8 weeks up to 2 times per year.
Location: Lower Mainland
Time Commitment: Full time care of the breeding dog (male/female), for females 24 hours a day care of Mum and pups for the first 8 weeks of life.

ADVANCED KENNEL VOLUNTEERS
Socialize with our dogs in advanced training (generally 1-2 years old), let dogs out to toilet & socialize and clean kennels.
Location: Burnaby Campus
Time Commitment: Minimum 2 evenings a month, generally one evening a week. Some weekend daytime shifts available.
Restrictions: Must be over 18 years old.

CAMPUS MAINTENANCE/LANDSCAPING
If you like to garden, build, paint or troubleshoot technical glitches we need your help. We always have a need for both licensed tradespeople as well as handymen/women and gardeners to help keep our facility and grounds in tip top shape.
Location: Burnaby
Time Commitment: Variable/Flexible.

OFFICE VOLUNTEER
Various odd jobs including filing, data entry, copying, mail outs and so much more.

EVENT TEAMS
Assist at PADS many fundraising and promotional events.
Location:Lower Mainland and Calgary
Time Commitment:Dependant on the event. Generally shifts are 2-4 hours.

PRESENTATION TEAM
Provide informative and entertaining PADS presentations to people of all ages. Educate the general public on what PADS is and the amazing things our dogs do. Presenters must be comfortable speaking to groups in a variety of settings.

Time Commitment: Variable/Flexible, depending on scheduled presentations and your availability.

PUPPY-CUDDLING Currently Closed to Applications
Providing our EPE puppies the opportunity to socialize with people. Supervising and interacting with puppies in kennel and play yard. Some clean up of yard and kennels.
Location: Burnaby Campus
Time Commitment: One hour per week.
Restrictions: Must be over 18 years old, unless accompanied by an adult.
