AVERY spent this month learning some new skills relating to his potential career as a PTSD service dog and continues to maintain his public access manners and all existing service skills. A big thing for Avery this month was working through his dog distraction, staying calm and not whining or lunging when near other dogs who are activated. He is learning to transfer all skills and obedience over to new handlers, as he is very attached to Lisa and so he needs to practice bonding with new humans!
- Skills being learned: Maintaining all skills learned, preparing for pre-placement testing, anxiety interruption behaviors, BAT work for dog distraction.
- Recent field trips: New Westminster Quay, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Trout Lake, various local malls, PetSmart, Bosley’s.
- Possible behavior challenges: Dog distraction, sniffing when on leash.
- Potential career path: Service or PTSD
Thank you again for all your support of Advanced Dog Avery!
