BOWYER has transferred to Margaret’s string this month to be further assessed for possible careers as an AFD or PTSD service dog. Bowyer is very much a dog who needs to build a solid relationship with his handler to fully engage, so this month he has been working with new handlers to assess his willingness to build new relationships and transfer his skills from handler to handler.
- Skills being learned: Transferring skills to new handlers, maintaining basic obedience, intro to anxiety interruption behavior.
- Recent field trips: Lougheed Mall, Ikea, Walmart, doctor’s office, Pet Expo.
- Possible behavior challenges: Dog distraction, environmental/food distractions, barking at unseen noises.
- Potential career path: PTSD or AFD
