CHESS is continuing to have fun learning service skills and is now readily offering behaviors and is starting to problem solve when she is not completely sure what her handler may be asking. She is progressing nicely with all skills learned so far with her handler standing and has started working on doing those skills with her handler in a wheelchair. Chess is also working hard at her retrieve grip and duration carry.

  • Skills being learned: ‘Open the door’, ‘behind’, ‘foot’, retrieve.
  • Recent field trips: Metrotown Mall, Trout Lake, Lougheed Mall, other field trips with Ashley and advanced training volunteers.
  • Possible behavior challenges: Prey drive in exciting scenarios, occasional challenges with recall.
  • Advanced Training location: Burnaby
  • Potential career path: Service
