ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

Don't forget to join us tomorrow at 1:00 PM PST for our first #TuneInTuesday of the fall season. We are excited to be chatting with another one of our incredible Accredited Facility Dog Teams at the Vancouver Police Department – Christian and PADS Sadie.

Sergeant Christian Lowe of the Vancouver Police Department Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) will share with us how PADS Sadie helps the members that work in that unit. Due to the stressful nature of their work, Sadie’s main purpose is to provide some level of mental health relief to the detectives and civilian professionals. Sadie is completely dedicated to that unit, and in the last two years has become a well-loved member of the ICE family.

Andrea Oland has been volunteering with PADS for several years. We asked Andrea why she chose to volunteer at PADS, and she writes

"I joined PADS because I love dogs, and I can couple that with giving back to the community, so it is a win / win for me. That’s why I started several years ago, and through those years I’ve also met so many great people within PADS, as well as people in the community who I wouldn’t otherwise meet as PADS pups draw people in.

My love of dogs has just grown because the numerous pups I have met/sat/raised/trained have taught me so much and I have seen them change so many lives. I am proud to be part of the PADS family!"
