DUSTY II has been spending this month getting to know Apprentice Instructor Ashley and doing some one on one work with Training Programs Manager Margaret. Margaret, with the assistance of Jessica and several dedicated advanced training volunteers, will be continuing Dusty’s training as her advanced trainer for the time being. Dusty has spent some time this month trying out different skills and has decided that she much prefers the working life of an AFD candidate. Dusty will explore possible AFD or PTSD careers with Margaret while working on obedience and default behaviors, as well as maintaining her public access manners and sharpening her polite greetings. When she is not training, Dusty loves to have a good romp in the yard with training buddies Truffle, Skaha and Jericho.
- Skills being learned: Sharpening basic obedience and public access manners, working on polite greetings.
- Recent field trips: Robert Burnaby Park, Ikea, Lougheed Mall, various training field trips.
- Possible behavior challenges: Impulse control on leash, especially when greeting people she knows, digging in to collar pressure.
- Potential career path: AFD or PTSD
Thank you again for all your support of Advanced Dog Dusty II!
