HAMMOND is working hard and having fun in advanced training while we wait to do a formal pre-placement test. In the meantime, he is showing the new recruits the ropes and being a great example for the younger pups. Hammond is always a welcome addition to any room, spreading smiles with his characteristic “good guy Hammond” charm. He has been keeping old skills sharp with plenty of practice with his sitters Gloria and Linda as well as field trips to places like malls and pet stores.
- Skills being learned: Chin targeting to the ground around food, retrieving, ‘step’, wheelchair skills, ‘foot’, ‘switch’, ‘behind’.
- Recent field trips: Deerfoot City, Petland, local restaurant, off leash area
- Possible behavior challenges: Cautious on different surfaces and with body movement, very energy efficient, some discomfort while riding a bus.
