JERICHO continues to charm his way around the PADS Burnaby campus and is making lots of friends with his adorable wiggle and happy face. He has come a long way this month, developing working relationships with the Burnaby training staff and volunteers, which is helping strengthen his default eye contact and focus when working. Jericho’s main challenges are recall at the dog park and cape sensitivity, so we are working with lots of high value rewards to build positive associations to both returning to his handler after playtime and putting his cape on to work. Jericho is also working on retrieve basics and is taking to the skill well so far!

  • Skills being learned: Retrieve introduction, impulse control games, particularly focused on his ball drive, sharpening all basic obedience and adding/sharpening durations.
  • Recent field trips: Lougheed Mall, Ikea, PetSmart, Trout Lake, various training field trips.
  • Possible behavior challenges: Alert barking at home and in vehicles, cape sensitivity, impulse control on leash.
  • Potential career path: Service
