MARA is having a blast learning service skills! She especially enjoys ‘push’ and ‘button’. She is also having lots of fun working on ‘tug’ and is starting to transfer the skill to a door. Mara continues to work hard with her retrieve basics, learning to grab firmly onto a dumbbell. She has great persistence and is eager to keep trying even when she struggles. Lovely work Mara! When she isn’t working on skills with Ashley, Mara is going on chair runs and working on her obedience cues and durations with kennel coordinator Jessica and her training buddies Vesper, Willow, Sunny and Skaha.
- Skills being learned: ‘Button’, ‘push’, ‘light’, ‘tug’, retrieve intro and foundations.
- Recent field trips: 8 Rinks, Cariboo Dam Park, Lougheed Mall and various training field trips.
- Possible behavior challenges: Barking at people entering a space or in a mask, arousal in certain exciting scenarios.
- Potential career path: Service, PTSD or AFD
