SKAHA II has been having a blast working on foundational skills like ‘perch’. This is helping her a lot with her ‘heels’ and ‘sides’.  She has been practicing her default ‘leave it’ and has been doing very well and she is really starting to get the hang of ‘stand’. When she isn’t working on skills with Ashley, she is practicing her basic obedience cues with kennel coordinator Jessica and training buddies Vesper, Mara, Winnie and Sunny. She is also getting some experience working with different handlers in different locations in the sitter. She had a blast hanging out with George for a few days! Thanks Jessica and George! Skaha likes working with her handlers but struggles with the pressure of repeatedly working on special skills needed for a service career. She has let us know that she prefers to do AFD work and is enjoying practicing adored by everyone she meets! It’s a ruff job, but someone’s got to do it!

  • Skills being learned: ‘Perch’, ‘stand’, refining ‘heel’ and ‘side’, practicing default ‘leave it.’
  • Recent field trips: 8 Rinks, Home Depot, Lougheed Mall and various training fieldtrips.
  • Possible behavior challenges: Freezing on leash, scavenging.
  • Potential career path: AFD

Thank you again for all your support of Advanced Dog Skaha!
