SPROUT joined the Burnaby Advanced Training crew this month and has been working with Instructor’s Assistant Jessica for much of this month. He is already showing some nice growth in his obedience and public access manner. He is showing himself to be very attentive and primary handler focused; he will often find a place to lay in the Trainer’s Office that is as close to Jessica as possible! Part way through the month, Sprout was showing signs of kennel cough, so he headed out with his advanced sitters for some R & R until he was feeling better! Sprout is all clear to return to training and we are excited to have him back onsite for more training!
- Skills being learned: Building durations, engage/disengage, LLW, walking next to a power chair, wait/out
- Recent field trips: Lougheed Mall, Robert Burnaby Park (Field trips were put on hold once he showed signs of kennel cough)
- Possible behavior challenges: Difficulty with duration obedience in higher distraction environments, interest in fast moving objects (particularly balls)
- Advanced training location: Burnaby
- Potential career path: Assistance Dog
Thank you again for all your support of Advanced Dog Sprout!
