TRUFFLE is so much fun to have around! She loves to work and learn new things and is progressing well on her service skills. Truffle continues to work on her impulse control and body awareness, and she is making progress. Her focus this month has been working on retrieve, particularly with a person using a wheelchair. Her big retrieve challenge is that she always wants to put her paws onto the items when they are on the ground, so she is learning the proper retrieve sequence and focusing on using only her mouth to retrieve an item. When she is not training hard, she loves to unwind with a good game of tug!

  • Skills being learned: Strengthening the retrieve sequence, body awareness and impulse control exercises, maintaining all other existing skills.
  • Recent field trips: Ambleside Park, IKEA, local secondary school, Lougheed Mall, Metrotown Mall, Brentwood Town Center, SkyTrain, local grocery store, PetSmart.
  • Possible behavior challenges: Pulling on leash to get to what she wants, hyper attachment with vocalization.
  • Potential career path: Service, PTSD or AFD
