TRUFFLE spent some extra one-on-one time with trainer Lisa this month for further assessment and training. Lisa and Truffle attended the annual Courthouse Dog Conference in Seattle and met many other influential dogs and handlers. Truffle was on her best behavior, settling well and ignoring the many dogs with the support of her handler. Spending more time outside of the kennel has helped Lisa get a better idea of Truffle’s strengths and weaknesses as a potential assistance dog. Truffle has the perfect level of energy for an AFD placement and her sweet nature supports that career path. Lisa continues to work on service skills with Truffle while also practicing skills essential to AFD placement so Truffle has lots of career options!

  • Skills being learned: Retrieve, loose leash walking, maintaining cues during meet and greets.
  • Recent field trips: Ikea, Maplewood Farms, Lougheed Mall, off-leash dog park, Downtown New Westminster, local secondary schools, Choices Market, PetSmart.
  • Possible behavior challenges: Difficulty retrieving items in distracting locations, hyper attachment, pulling on leash.
  • Potential career path: AFD or Service

Thank you again for all your support of Advanced Dog Truffle!
