VALOUR is a girl who is keen to work and likes many repetitions to truly understand and learn a skill. She has been working hard and is making progress! Valour tried out skills next to a chair as well as with a bracing harness on and has decided she would like to try working in a harness. She has started foundational work for β€˜step’ and is taking to the skill with ease and confidence. Valour has also been working on settling when apart from her handler and maintaining quiet and is improving on this as well. Ashley and her volunteer helpers have also been running all dogs through Ashley’s β€œobstacle courses” that have the dog practice default β€˜leave its’, obedience, skills, walking on different surfaces, proprioception, and strengthening exercises. Valour enjoyed some nice rest and relaxation with her sitter over the holiday break and is keen to get working again in the new year!

  • Skills being learned: β€˜Open the door’, β€˜my lap’, β€˜up’, β€˜step’, simple retrieve intros.
  • Recent field trips: Canada Games Pool, Lougheed Mall, various additional training field trips.
  • Possible behavior challenges: Default β€˜leave it’ for food on the floor when excited.
  • Potential career path: Service, PTSD or AFD

Thank you again for all your support of Advanced Dog Valour!
