VESPER did some assessments in December with Ashley and Margaret. She did best when with an ambulatory handler, so we will be focusing mostly on skills with an ambulatory handler. She continues to refine her skills further in hopes of being ready for her next steps soon. Ashley and her volunteer helpers have also been running all dogs through Ashley’s “obstacle courses” that have the dog practice default ‘leave its’, obedience, skills, walking on different surfaces, proprioception, and strengthening exercises. Vesper had a great time with her sitter over the holiday break and is ready for the new year!

  • Skills being learned: Practicing all skills learned so far, transferring all skills to different handlers, strengthening default check in for distractions of varying intensity.
  • Recent field trips: Lougheed Mall, 8 Rinks, Metrotown Mall, various additional training field trips.
  • Possible behavior challenges: Vocalizing when curious.
  • Potential career path: Service

Thank you again for all your support of Advanced Dog Vesper!
