2019 got off to a great start – nothing like having some dog squad outing with a few of my pals to set a tone for 2019! And I’m glad that I spent the first half of January outside, socializing and working on my loose leash walking, because for the second half of January, I had to stay closer to home and recover from minor surgery.

Being inside gave me great opportunities to work on cues like β€˜stand’, and transitioning between cues β€˜sit’, β€˜down’, and β€˜stand’. And to take it even further, we practiced duration in each of those positions! All that hard work payed off because I’m getting better at the skills I’ll need to be successful as an assistance dog. Plus I get lots of treats when I learn new things and practice – so a win:win!
