YAHTZEE continues to enjoy working on basic service skills and is starting to understand foot targeting and using his paws for certain skills. He is working on transitioning his skills to when his handler is sitting in a wheelchair and is progressing well so far. Yahtzee has also made big strides this month in retrieve and can finally pick up and carry a dumbbell short distances. Great work, Yahtzee! When he isn’t training, Yahtzee is capturing the hearts of staff and volunteers with his gentle nature and β€˜touch-of-the-golden’ love of cuddling. He loves to visit with the volunteers in the play yard or have a good play with training buddies Mara, Jericho and Winnie.

  • Skills being learned: β€˜Button’, β€˜push’, β€˜open the door’, β€˜tug’, retrieve foundations.
  • Recent field trips: Robert Burnaby Park, Ikea, PetSmart, Lougheed Mall, various training field trips.
  • Possible behavior challenges: Alert barking, trouble differentiating between his nose and his paws for some service skills.
  • Potential career path: Service, PTSD or AFD

Thank you again for all your support of Advanced Dog Yahtzee!
