ZARIA is progressing well this month and is starting to really get the hang of retrieving! She can now retrieve an object off the floor and deliver it to the hands of her handler and she is getting more solid every training session. Now she is working on combining retrieve with ‘my lap’, as well as adding distance to her ‘button’ and ‘tug’ skills. Her body awareness is improving, and we are excited to see Zaria’s growth continue as we move into fall. When she is not training hard, Zaria loves to have a good play in the yard with her kennel buddy, Truffle.

  • Skills being learned:
  • Recent field trips: Ambleside Park, Ikea, various local secondary schools, various local malls, Downtown Vancouver, Superstore, PetSmart, New Westminster Quay, PNE, 8 Rinks.
  • Possible behavior challenges: Jumping onto people when she is excited, olfactory distraction, overly interested in small fast-moving animals including birds.
  • Potential career path: Service
