ZARIA has been working on holding items without shifting them around in her mouth when retrieving certain objects as well as clarity between ‘light’ and ‘switch’. She is also working on keeping up all her skills with Ashley and other handlers. Ashley and her volunteer helpers have also been running all dogs through Ashley’s “obstacle courses” that have the dog practice default ‘leave its’, obedience, skills, walking on different surfaces, proprioception, and strengthening exercises. Zaria enjoyed some nice rest and relaxation with her sitter over the holiday break and is keen to get working again in the new year!

  • Skills being learned: Differentiation between ‘light’ & ‘switch’, refining retrieve with objects with certain textures.
  • Recent field trips: Lougheed Mall, 8 Rinks, various additional training field trips.
  • Possible behavior challenges: Jumping onto people when she is excited, olfactory distraction, overly interested in small fast-moving animals, some scavenging in the home.
  • Potential career path: Service

Thank you again for all your support of Advanced Dog Zaria!
