ZARIA is progressing nicely on her retrieving skills as she starts to learn to hold on to items for longer durations. She is learning how hard to grip various items without damaging them and is doing well. She loves working and has a little bounce in her step. Zaria likes to anticipate what is coming next, so we are working on her slowing down to think before offering a behavior, rather than randomly offering behaviors. Zaria is very comfortable walking or running next to a wheel chair as if she has been doing it all her life. When she is not working, she loves to have a good play in the yard and snuggle in the kennel with her buddy Avery.
- Skills being learned: βButtonβ, βlightβ, βtugβ, βpushβ, βgo through/backβ, βgo inβ, βfootβ, βupβ, βmy lapβ, retrieve foundations.
- Recent field trips: New Westminster Quay, Lougheed Mall, various local schools, Ikea.
- Possible behavior challenges: Lunging, food distraction, impulse control around new people.
- Potential career path: Service, AFD or PTSD
