What’s wonderful about jax
WHERE jax NEEDS EXTRA SUPPORT
Jax has struggled throughout puppyhood and adolescence with some generalized back pain. While his diagnostic tests all come back clear, we know that working would create additional stress on his back. He is currently well managed with routine exercise, stretches and pain medication during any flare ups. We fully anticipate Jax will have a happy and normal life!
Jax is currently working with his caretaker on finding a functional balance between activity and comfort and building up his physical fitness in a sustainable way. Jax may show pain if physical pressure is put on his hind end and avoids rough play with other dogs. When he is feeling sore, he may move slowly on, or avoid stairs. Due to his back pain, he’s not a dog who would do well in a dog park where play looks a bit like tackle football.
Home Requirements
Someone must be home the majority of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Jax alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.
A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.
Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Jax is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that he may not be used by other agencies for other working roles (some exceptions may apply depending on the reasons of release, such as volunteering as a pet visitation dog).
