Marshโ€™s Marvellous month of September:

Summer ended this month, along with lots of other memorable events. The kids went back to school, and I have popped in a couple of times already just to visit some students and say hi to some teachers.

We celebrated my one-year anniversary of moving from my short-term raiser to my long-term raisers. There were photo sessions and treats, and stories told about some of the things Iโ€™ve accomplished in the year. Our middle and high school had its Terry Fox run and Toonies for Terry fundraiser. I went to middle school chapel and sat through the noise and chaos of having hundreds of kids and 2 other dogs in the room. Outside, the music was blaring and we watched the kids run and walk around their route. Those kids seemed happy to be outside with their friends.

My weekly homework is to get together with other dogs, and so I met Maia for a fantastic trail run, and I was a very good boy. I met PADS Picard at the museum, and we explored the exhibits and had a picnic outside. I had a neighbourhood walk with Po, and a shopping excursion with PADS Raekin and I still get fidgety and want to play, but Iโ€™m trying a bit harder and getting a bit better each time. One rainy day, I had a hike on the dyke with Queenie, and she kept going into the river, and I dutifully followed, but I stayed in the shallow part and didnโ€™t swim.

Granny had to go and get tests at the hospital, and I took her and waited nicely. My raiser chatted to all sorts of people and gave away stickers to the staff. In the middle of the month, my trainer examined my behaviour and cues at Petsmart and Canadian Tire, and she made notes on a clipboard. After an hour, she was still smiling, so I think I must have done ok. Now that Iโ€™m nearly one and a half, Iโ€™m expected to be well-behaved in public, and Iโ€™m getting lots of outings, but sometimes I just enjoy staying home and relaxing and snuggling my humans.

Next month, Iโ€™m looking forward to visiting some farms and enjoying the fall colours.
