The hot days of summer gave way to cooler temperatures, fall colours and a first minor snowfall, and Blazer was intrigued by all of it. He spent some time out of town at my parents’ place – one of his favourite places to go. I’m pretty sure he knows we’re headed there when he gets in the car as he happily beds down in the back seat for the drive.
On one beautiful afternoon, we met up with PADS Astro and Shah (and their raisers, of course) at Edworthy Park for some loose leash walking practice. Blazer spent some time walking with raiser Stephanie, who took some great pictures of him by the river. There were many dogs and humans there to serve as distractions, but all three dogs did very well yielding to leash pressure and staying focused.
The highlight of October was an invitation to PADS to attend the final rehearsal of “Sci-Fi Spectacular: Interstellar, Star Wars + Beyond” by the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. We were there for the latter half of the rehearsal, and Blazer had the opportunity to meet and greet members of the Chorus who were on their way out after their rehearsal. He was on his best behaviour while they asked questions about him and PADS. We were then escorted into the concert hall, where we watched and listened to the orchestra rehearse. It was a fantastic experience for both Blazer and myself!
The rehearsal also offered Blazer an opportunity to visit the downtown core on a busy weekday afternoon. There were so many new smells, sights and sounds, he was a bit overwhelmed by it all, but he did very well in spite of the distractions.
