Meet FINNA
What’s wonderful about FINNA
Finna is a calm and gentle girl who rarely gets bursts of arousal. This girl loves to be with her people and show off her excellent core commands. On off leash adventures, Finna has excellent recall and loves to be with her people. She is curious about other wildlife but has learned that they are to be observed from a distance, left alone and not be chased. As much as Finna enjoys being in nature on trail walks and other adventures, she is more than happy to stay home whether it be alone on her dog bed or curled up with her people. Finna has shared her home with other dogs, cats, and both young & older people, she settles well and is gentle with all her housemates.
WHERE FINNA NEEDS EXTRA SUPPORT
As loving and gentle as Finna can be, she may become a bit of a bull in a China shop when over aroused by the presence of too many young kids and other animals and may topple others over. It takes this girl some time to bounce back, she would rather add distance and disengage if things feel too hard! When she is feeling stressed and overwhelmed and can’t remove herself from a situation, she progressively shows signs of stress. Finna would benefit greatly from a handler who maintains an awareness of her and helps her add space when she is feeling all her feelings. Although Finna loves her canine friends, she would benefit from a home that will not bring her to dog parks so to avoid any overwhelming feelings.
Home Requirements
Someone must be home the majority of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Finna alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.
A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.
Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Finna is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that she may not be used by other agencies for other working roles (some exceptions may apply depending on the reasons of release, such as volunteering as a pet visitation dog).
