Blazer spent the first part of December recovering from a mild case of kennel cough during which he wasnβt able to attend puppy class or go on any public outings. This gave him an opportunity to perfect his βoff switchβ, and rest a lot. We had to come up with ways to keep him busy and engaged when he felt well enough, but was still quarantined. His favourite activity was a frozen food-filled Kong. He watched me fill the Kong with great anticipation, but then looked so disappointed when it disappeared into the freezer! A few hours later, the Kong was ready, and Blazer was ready for it. This kept him occupied for quite some time after which he needed a rest.
Blazer was finally able to return to the last puppy class before Christmas. He was very happy to be there! He received a special Christmas cookie from Jamila, which made it that much more fun.
The weather was mild enough that we were able to take evening walks through the neighbourhood to see the lights. During the day on Christmas Eve, Blazer burned off some energy in our neighbourhood off-leash area. He came home muddy, happy and ready for a nap. On Christmas day, my family came to our house, and Blazer handled all of the excitement fairly well with the help of a frozen Kong and a brand new Benebone to chew on.
On New Yearβs Eve, Blazer attended the best dog party ever at Play Unleashed with PADS Astro, Morley, Shah and released Agnes. He spent a fun-filled hour running and wrestling in the snow with his buddies. There were treats to be had, and while he had a few, he was far more excited about running around with his friends.
