ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

Nine new fans have joined the village - give a cheer for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Litter ⚽

Proud parents PADS Athena and Steller are pleased to introduce brothers Boomer III, Blanco, Gaffer, Max, and T-Bone, and their sisters Goaldie, Sammy, Tattor, and Tide.

Thank you to the 'Caps for nominating names, and to everyone who donated to vote for the final nine.

And another big thank you to the support team, Breeder Caretakers Ruth and Ron, for being on-side.

This puppy's gift? Changing lives 💖

Join us in welcoming PADS Pandora from @freedomservicedogs in Colorado. She met her new Puppy-Raiser, Melissa, last month and has begun her journey to becoming a life-changing assistance dog.

Fun fact: Pandora's dad is our very own PADS Steller! Can you see the resemblance?

Last month, a new group of dogs joined the Advanced Training team in Burnaby - welcome Baldwin, Bosc, Ellis, Gamora, Groot, Huckle, Mario, Marsh II, and Toad!

Congratulations to everyone involved in getting these dogs to this stage of their PADS journey. And to the pups themselves, we're all cheering you on as you make begin your next big adventure toward becoming life-changing assistance dogs 🐶

Reason 6️⃣ Give to break down barriers.

PADS Mobility dogs are trained to provide practical support for their clients, and, often, their work goes much deeper. An unexpected barrier that people who become disabled may face is a feeling of isolation. For Mary-Jo, being partnered with PADS Scramble (whom she calls Angel) changed everything. "The social aspect is remarkable. When you're paralyzed - it's an odd kind of thing - but for some reason people feel like they can't touch you. Like they might break you. An assistance dog provides that physical connection that I had lost."

PADS Accredited Facility Dogs are placed with incredible partners throughout many communities. Take PADS Diego, who, along with his handler, Tamara, supports students at Carson Graham Secondary School.

Diego fits right in, thanks to his ability to help students feel understood and supported. Tamara reports that his positive impact is undeniable. Bringing joy and comfort to everyone he meets, Diego has become an invaluable part of the school community.
