Whatβs wonderful about GAMORA
Gamora is a sweet, spunky girl with a big heart and even bigger personality. Sheβs smart, loves to learn, and once sheβs focused, she can really lock in and show off her skills. She’s happiest when sheβs out on an adventureβwhether itβs hitting the trails or romping on the beach. Her great recall makes her the perfect adventure buddy! At home, she settles beautifully in her crate, can hang out quietly for a few hours with a chew toy, and is always ready to snuggle when the day winds down. Her love for peopleβespecially the men in the familyβis obvious, and she shows her affection with full-body enthusiasm! Like a true lab, she is very food-motivated and can really shine when engaged, zoning in on her commands with impressive concentration. Sheβs also shown potential for activities like scent work or anything that will keep her busy, which could be a great outlet for her energy and focus!
WHERE GAMORA NEEDS EXTRA SUPPORT
That said, Gamora isnβt a beginnerβs dog and does come with a few challenges. She has a lot of energy and can get overly excited in a flash. Sheβs very distracted by other dogs and shows inappropriate behavior toward small dogs and catsβdarting at them and trying to engage in rough play. Because of this, Gamora would do best as the only pet in a home without young children. Sheβs also quite strong on leash and needs a confident, experienced handler to help guide her. When meeting new people, she tends to get a little too enthusiastic in jumping up, getting in faces, and occasionally leaving a bruise with her very bouncy greetings (which we know isnβt fun for anyone!). Sheβs working hard on learning calmer, more polite ways to say hello. Gamora is a work in progress, but sheβs putting in the effort. With clear boundaries, consistent training, and lots of positive guidance, sheβs absolutely capable of thriving. Sheβs sweet, a little spicy, and ready to shine in the right home with someone whoβs up for the adventure!
Home Requirements
Someone must be home the majority of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Gamora alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.
A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.
Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Gamora is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that she may not be used by other agencies for other working roles (some exceptions may apply depending on the reasons of release, such as volunteering as a pet visitation dog).
