MEET TEAM DIEGO

Comforting connection

I am honoured to share my heartfelt appreciation for the incredible PADS Diego at Carson Graham Secondary School. Diego has become an irreplaceable part of our school community, bringing joy, comfort, and connection to both students and staff in ways that go beyond what we ever imagined.

With over 1,400 diverse individuals, Diego, along with his brother Aslan have transformed our school.

Diego is the anchor that gets many students through the day. His ability to connect, especially with our neurodiverse and vulnerable students, is nothing short of extraordinary.

Diego is also more than just a calming presence—he is a character. His loud snores in meetings, his ever-expressive eyebrows that seem to speak volumes, and his signature “slow like molasses” stroll through the hallways never fail to bring laughter. His unique personality and gentle spirit foster a sense of belonging, making every student feel just a little more at home. He reminds us all of the power of kindness and connection.

To PADS, thank you for your unwavering commitment to training life-changing service dogs like Diego. Your dedication transforms lives in ways that words can never fully capture.

To his puppy raisers and trainers, thank you for the countless hours you invested in his development—for your patience, your love, and your belief in his potential. Every “sit”, “wait”, “goooood” is a testament to your hard work.

To his sponsors, your generosity has made an immeasurable impact. Every student and staff member who finds solace in Diego, every moment of comfort he provides, is because of you.

On a personal note, Diego has changed my life as well. Working alongside him is an absolute privilege, and at home, he has become a beloved part of my family. We love this big lug to bits and have even embraced the shedding.

On behalf of Carson Graham Secondary and myself, thank you, PADS, for bringing Diego into our world. – Tamara, School Counsellor
