I started out this month attending two student engagement events with Campus Canines, meeting students from two different UBC Faculties – I always like these events where I get lots of attention! I continue to enjoy the spring weather with some longer walks in the forest, and I had a special meet-up in a park with some PADS released dogs – having 9 labs playing together made quite the impression!
I’ve started getting used to wearing booties so that my feet will be protected this summer when the pavement is really hot and in winter when the sidewalks have a lot of salt. They feel very funny on my feet now, which makes me walk funny, but after a bit more practice, they should be no problem.
My raiser and I evaluated my sit posture this month as part of PADS fitness month. I have pretty good posture – no sloppy sits for me!
I’ve been working on being happy with car rides and have made a lot of progress! I ended the month with a long car ride to the PADS campus where I showed off my car confidence, and then went on a special off-leash trail walk with my group trainer, my raiser, and PADS Draco.
Next month, I’ll be able to report on how I did with my Guide Dog Behavioral Assessment Test (GDbart) – hope it goes well!
