Hey there, hoomans and pup pals—Skaha here, checking in with my May pupdate from Kelowna. I turned 8 months old on May 25, this month was packed with new adventures, tail wags, and lots of sniff-tastic experiences.

I’m still growing and just shy of 50 pounds now, and feeling strong, sleek, and ready to roll (or, more accurately, ready to heel). I got to stretch my paws with some cool outings this month, starting with the Falkland Stampede. That’s right—I went to my very first rodeo! I watched horses, calves, and even some big ol’ bulls doing their thing. I stayed calm, cool, and collected—even when the crowd got loud. I even earned a few treats for my behaviour.

That same weekend, I helped out at a garage sale with my raiser’s parents (aka my “grand-hoomans”). I took my title of “grand-dogger” very seriously, greeting customers, supervising sales, and practicing my dog distraction skills with all the visiting pups. Gotta say, my impulse control was on point. Mostly.

One of the highlights of the month was attending the PADS Graduation at Predator Ridge Golf Course on May 25. It was a pawsome event! I got to watch some of the big dogs graduate and head off with their new handlers to do amazing things. I also got to catch up with a bunch of my fellow Okanagan pups-in-training. So many familiar faces and so many future heroes in one spot—it made my tail wag just thinking about the road ahead.

Training is still a big part of my everyday routine, and I’m loving the warmer weather. It means more outdoor walks, trail time, and soon—lake adventures! I’ve got my eye on the water and can’t wait to dip my paws in (or maybe do a full Lab-style splash).

That about wraps up my month. I’m staying focused and working hard on my skill development. Until next time…

Skaha out. Stay cool, stay kind, and keep those treats coming!
