MEET TEAM ASTI

From puppy-raising partners to a wonderful working team

It is with great joy and celebration that I welcome PADS Asti to the F.E. Osborne School staff team as our official AFD dog.

As Asti’s 3rd raiser, I have been training her at our school for the past year. Over the past 6 years that I have been a PADS volunteer, I have noticed what an incredible difference these dogs make in a school environment.  While I was puppy raising Asti, she worked alongside me in the school, with the hope that one day, she would become a service dog for a future PADS service dog client.  Asti was diagnosed with a food allergy and so there was a pivot. With the guidance and support of the PADS staff, Asti completed Advanced Training as an AFD, and is now part of our staff.  Asti’s sweet nature and her calm presence provides unconditional and nonjudgemental support for students feeling anxious or stressed. From greeting students in the morning to offering a “go see”, a drooly smile, or a snuggle she brings smiles and a more comfortable environment for the staff and students.

Thank you to everyone in the PADS Village including her former raisers, sitters, advanced sitters and the Advanced Training team in Burnaby for all your support in making this become reality.
