Puzzle learned an important lesson this month. Do NOT believe human when they say we have no plans. So many times, we had nothing on the calendar, only to go to appointments, fitness classes and PADS events.

One weekend, human said we had nothing to do, so we went on a long, relaxing sniffy walk in the cool morning air. Then, human decided we should go shopping, and why not make it an experience by taking the bus? Puzzle didnโ€™t think it was fair that human got supplies for the new office while he only got toothpaste.

Human promised that it was enough activity for the day and that Puzzle could go into his kennel for a snooze. Much to his bewilderment, human went out for a few minutes and came back home with a young puppy. Puzzle had been asked to care for his daughter Pip for the evening! He shared his favourite toys and played lots of tug, but when he thought Pip needed rest, he would lie down and pretend to sleep.

Puzzle also learned that plans change. We looked forward to attending a baseball game as a social/professional networking event. We both had business cards, ready to talk about our skills. We arrived at the stadium, Puzzle bought a souvenir, human ate a hot dog, and then someone announced, โ€˜No game tonight.โ€™ Puzzle couldnโ€™t understand why his โ€œBetter Goโ€ or โ€œLetโ€™s Goโ€ didnโ€™t get postponed because of rain.

Puzzle met a lot of new people and puppies this month, and some greetings were a little more exuberant than others. He loved being close to the physiotherapist, but kept his distance from the dentist. This weekend, he is with a sitter, demonstrating the PADS way for a new volunteer. He asked us to pass on a message to his PADS classmates: If a tree falls in the forest . . . . run!
