Happy 1st Birthday to Our Fierce Little Dragon Litter
July has been a big month for Smaug — not just because it’s summer, but because our boy officially turned ONE on July 12th! 🥳 This milestone marks a year full of learning, growing, and proving that under all that puppy fluff, there’s a future service dog in the making.
Smaug’s training continues to impress. He’s mastered his scavenging skills (always handy for safely navigating those tempting sidewalk snacks) and is an absolute gentleman when meeting other dogs — calm, polite, and confident. He’s also perfected his “hello” with strangers, offering a warm but controlled greeting before returning his focus to his handler.
We’ve been working hard on his off switch and building duration. His ability to relax and settle even when there’s exciting action all around. He’s showing wonderful progress in learning that downtime is just as important as go-time.
Body handling has been another big win. Smaug is completely comfortable lying on his side for grooming, vet check-ups, and general handling.
