What’s wonderful about Calvin
Where Calvin Needs Extra Support
Calvin’s sensitive heart means he feels things deeply. He forms strong emotional bonds with his people and can become anxious when apart from them, so a stable home with someone present and consistent will help him feel secure. When he’s overwhelmed or overstimulated — especially around other dogs or in noisy environments — he may express it through excitement or worry, but calm guidance and gentle reassurance help him find his footing again. He would do best in a quieter home without frequent chaos or very young children, ideally with someone who values structure, kindness, and the power of patience. He has been working hard on learning how to greet new human and canine friends politely (keeping those happy toes on the ground!). Calvin’s sensitivity isn’t a weakness — it’s what makes him so special. With love, understanding, and steady companionship, he’ll repay it all tenfold as a devoted, gentle, and endlessly loyal best friend.
Home Requirements
Someone must be home the majority of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Calvin alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.
A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.
Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Calvin is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that he may not be used by other agencies for other working roles (some exceptions may apply depending on the reasons of release, such as volunteering as a pet visitation dog).
