November has been a busy month for a very fast-growing Maren. She’s accompanied us to Starbucks, Cactus Club Café, Costco, Harvey’s, Kung Fu Tea, grocery stores, the immunization clinic, and puppy class, of course. She is a rock star in public, so much so that our server at Cactus Club had no idea she was stashed under the table of our booth until we got up to leave. She makes quite an impression wherever she goes because she is so well-behaved for being so young. Maren also accompanied Kaylie while she met with an external PADS partner in Calgary. By all accounts, she knocked it out of the park even though she was being handled by someone she didn’t know.
A major milestone this month was Maren’s transition from a small kennel to an intermediate kennel where she can spread out when she sleeps. She’s very enthusiastic to go into her kennel, and is pretty good at opening the door to get in if it’s left unlatched. Maren also learned to ride in the footwell of the car now that she’s outgrown the small kennel. She’s a great passenger and has learned where her feet should be and shouldn’t be.
The first big snow we had was very exciting for Maren. We took her to the park, and she leapt through the snow, running her nose through it at every opportunity. She had quite the workout as the snow was deeper than the length of her legs. She is working hard to befriend the cats and has discovered that if she is calm and patient with them, they will come to her for licks and to share her bed. She will occasionally try to play with them like they are puppies, but they quickly let her know that that is not how they play, and she had better smarten up.
