I can’t believe it’s December already! I’m excited for my second holiday season, but before that, I’ll give you an update on what I was up to in November.
The biggest news this month is that I started joining one of my raisers for their in-office days at work after they finally got approval to bring me! It has been a great experience. I join the busy commutes and settle on transit and ignore all the distractions as we navigate through the busy Skytrain stations and the streets downtown. We then get to the office, and I settle under a desk and snooze through long, boring meetings. My only fault is that sometimes I let out loud sighs or snores, but the humans just laugh. I think I’m their new favourite colleague and bring lots of love as I practice my ‘go say hi’s. We then go for a long walk at lunch, and sometimes we even visit the dog park, where I get to run and play with new friends. The best time was when I ran into PADS Picard, and we had a really fun play!
This month, I also hit a big milestone – I had my GDBart assessment! I don’t know what that means, but I went into a room with some really nice PADS staff, and they observed me while I checked out some things. Even though it was short, I was so tired afterwards and had a long nap.
A couple of training outing highlights include going to IKEA with five other PADS pups on a very busy Saturday. We got a lot of attention as we walked through the store and then practiced settling in the cafeteria together while the humans chatted. One of my raisers and I also sold poppies outside a grocery store in support of the Coquitlam Legion. I enjoyed watching shoppers go in and out of the store and had gotten lots of practice staying settled on my mat as people approached to purchase poppies! I also went to the final Whitecaps home game that had a record number of attendees. I hung out with PADS Blanco, Meadow, Drax, Gem, and Piper and met some fans. I especially liked meeting the little fans that came to visit while the game was on to get a break from the noisy, overwhelming stadium environment.
I’ve also been keeping up with my weekend forest romps with PADS friends. This month, I’ve been meeting up with PADS Zuko, and we’ve become great pals as we race through the trails together.
Happy Holidays!
