MEET TEAM FIDDLE

“Fiddle has become an irreplaceable member of the Transcona Collegiate family, bringing joy, comfort, and connection to students and staff every day. Her presence has intensified our school’s warmth, helping to make it even calmer, and more inclusive. From the moment she arrived, Fiddle captured our hearts and quickly became part of our daily routines.

Throughout the day, Fiddle greets students in the hallways with her wagging tail and gentle eyes, creating a sense of belonging and reassurance. She has a special ability to make people feel seen and valued, whether it’s a quick pat on the head or a quiet moment sitting beside someone who needs comfort. Students often seek her out when they need a break from stress, and her calm presence provides exactly what they need.

One of the most profound impacts Fiddle has had is with our newcomer students. Many come from countries where dogs are uncommon, and their experiences with dogs have often been negative. Through her kindness and patience, Fiddle helps these students discover the beauty and gentleness a dog can offer. Watching them warm up to her—sometimes starting with cautious glances and eventually leading to smiles and pats—has been truly heartwarming. These interactions build trust and foster inclusion in our school community.

Fiddle’s love for physical education is legendary! She eagerly trots into the gym to watch soccer games, chase basketballs, and even run alongside students. These playful moments bring laughter and joy, creating connections that go beyond the classroom. Her enthusiasm reminds us of the importance of fun and balance in our lives.

Beyond the gym, Fiddle attends countless meetings with me and has been a source of comfort during difficult conversations. Her calming presence helps ease tension and reminds us of the importance of compassion and care in our work. And of course, we can’t forget her stylish sweaters! Winnipeg winters are cold, but Fiddle’s cozy outfits—and her warm heart—brighten even the chilliest days.

Fiddle is more than a PADS dog; she is a friend, a teacher, and a source of happiness for everyone at Transcona Collegiate. We truly cannot imagine our school without her. Thank you to PADS, their sponsors, and the incredible team who raised and trained Fiddle. The difference you are making in people’s lives through this amazing companion is immeasurable.
