December brought a small change of pace for me, as I went into heat right at the start of the month. It meant a slight disruption to our usual plans and left me a bit sleepier than normal, but with some extra rest and care, I took it all in stride.
Despite that, I absolutely loved being home for the holidays with my parents and helping host family parties. The house was full, the energy was high, and I was very proud of how I handled it all. I greeted guests calmly, kept all four paws firmly on the ground, and maintained my manners the entire time. There was food everywhere, but I did not even dare take a sniff.
Most importantly, I took my job very seriously, making sure the little humans were safe. And if I do say so myself, I was exceptionally good at it. Watching, checking in, and staying steady all came naturally.
I also received so many compliments on my behaviour throughout the holidays. More than one person commented that I seemed like a brand new dog, which felt pretty great.
Looking back at last year’s hosting events, the improvement is huge. This December felt calmer, more confident, and much more me. I am growing up, settling in, and really starting to shine.
Onward to the new year 🐾
