New year, new year’s resolutions: Eat well, exercise appropriately, learn every day, and sleep lots.
For some puppies, just like people, resolutions are hard to keep!
We maintained good puppy nutrition, but when Bryn started teething, chewing became uncomfortable. That’s one natural way to slow a lab from wolfing down its food.
Bryn had playdates to exercise with the big kids, PADS Saphira, Daisy, and Puzzle, until growing pains slowed her down. We changed our focus from cardio to strength, looking for hills to walk up (although, what goes up must come down), stairs to climb carefully, and exercises that encourage her use her hind legs.
In puppy classes, we learned new skills, but our focus was on working around other dogs and settling away from home. We spent so much time in Winners, Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Rona, that Bryn thought human’s resolution should be learning to do more DIY projects.
Sleep lots, well, that was the easiest resolution to keep.
