Meet Patty
What’s wonderful about Patty
Patty is a loving, energetic girl who is wonderfully calm once she’s at home. She enjoys being close to her people, often choosing to relax nearby while napping or quietly watching the world go by. Her ability to settle has come a long way, and with the right balance of activity and downtime, she shows just how gentle and easygoing she can be indoors. Although she has done beautifully living in a condo, Patty would thrive in a detached home with a yard where she can play and stretch her legs. Patty is bright, intuitive, and respectful of her environment—she has excellent house manners, leaves belongings and plants alone, and is happiest when she can share daily life with her humans. She especially thrives when she gets to enjoy dog-friendly outdoor adventures, followed by cozy, peaceful time at home with her people.
Where Patty Needs Support
Patty experiences the world with a lot of enthusiasm, and her excitement around people, dogs, and new environments can sometimes come out as jumping, pulling, or getting a bit mouthy when she’s overwhelmed. She is sensitive to certain equipment like a harness for walks, tight spaces, and unfamiliar surfaces, and does best when she’s allowed to approach new things at her own pace rather than being rushed. While she loves being near her people, Patty isn’t a big cuddler nor does she enjoy too much petting. She prefers companionship in being close without constant physical affection. Kids are very exciting for her, so a calm home with experienced, young adult to middle-aged adults who enjoy outdoor, dog-friendly activities would be her best fit. She has lived with other dogs, though it’s unclear how she would feel about sharing a home with other animals. In a sitter’s home, Patty was very excited by their senior dog but settled beautifully after the first day of excitement. Her recall is okay, but questionable when she is playing with other dogs. She will pull on leash to attempt to greet other dogs during walks. With the right boundaries, guidance and patience, Patty will make a wonderful pet for the right home.
Home Requirements
Someone must be home the majority of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Patty alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.
A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.
Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Patty is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that he may not be used by other agencies for other working roles (some exceptions may apply depending on the reasons of release, such as volunteering as a pet visitation dog).
