Hello friends! I’m back again to share what I’ve been up to this month.
I’ve grown up getting to have off-leash time, but their rule has always been that I have to keep my ears open and listen to the raiser’s instructions. In my latest era of adolescence, my brain sometimes forgets this rule, so much of my “off leash” time has become long-line time (like in the photo of me, Taj and Mushu). Don’t worry, I still get to roam the woods and decompress, while also working on those recall skills. As the month went on, I began getting more actual off-leash privileges.
A new title you can put by my name is Honorary Campus Canine! I attended one lecture with Blanco’s raiser at his alma mater, UBC. I napped through the first part, and tried my best to understand the second part (I think I need to study harder because it made no sense). The campus is huge, but I was able to track down PADS Casper and his son, PADS Hudson. I thought my school visit was exciting, but then I was taken to a fish store where I could see all sorts of fishies.
A few other notable outings included a trip downtown on the seabus, a movie, more time at the skating rink, brunch (where my paws could dangle down the patio), and the bike shop.
In all my past pupdates, you’ve read all about my mentor, released PADS Taj. Well, he took on a new mentee: PADS Serenity! I begged him to let me be a co-mentor, which, it turns out, is hard work! Those little puppies have such sharp teeth, but thankfully, I’m way taller than her, so I could always escape.
The last exciting pupdate I have to share is that I’m now an adult! I turned 1 on the 26th, which included getting an off-leash run, a cookie and a stuffed cat! Not to mention, a new adult kibble.
In my first year of life, I’ve learnt so much, so here is a non-exhaustive list of my learnings: bed, down, sit, stand, touch, chin, perch (non cued), car, jump on, kennel, heel and side (working on cue), here, this way, let’s go, drop, trade, back (cue less motion), wait/out, dress, go sniff, and go in.
I’m loving life as a puppy in training, and I can’t wait to see what being a one-year-old is like!
