Meet Digger

What’s wonderful about Digger

Digger is a joyful, affectionate boy who thrives on being close to his people. With a medium energy level and a big cuddly heart, he’s just as happy joining you for a walk or outing as he is settling in for a relaxed day at home. Digger has lived comfortably in both apartments and houses and enjoys the company of other dogs, often seeking them out for play. In his puppyhood he absolutely adored children and was very gentle and affectionate with them, happily soaking up their attention and curiosity. He rides well in the car, enjoys water, and is generally an easy walking companion—making him a lovely partner for everyday life.

WHERE DIGGER NEEDS EXTRA SUPPORT

Digger’s biggest challenge is his enthusiastic curiosity about the world around him. He’s a talented scavenger and WILL help himself to tempting items like socks, slippers, or other household treasures if given the chance, so a family willing to help him practice good habits and keep novel items out of his reach will set him up for the most success. When playing with other dogs he may sometimes try to mount, so he’ll benefit from thoughtful supervision and guidance during social time. Digger can also be vocal when he’s excited or impatient, letting out a symphony of woofs and groans. Grooming moments—especially nail trims—may require patience as he learns to stay calm but he tolerates bath time. With kindness, consistency, and an appreciation about his mischievous streak and all that he is, Digger has all the ingredients to become a deeply devoted companion.

Home Requirements

Someone must be home the majority of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Digger alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.

A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.

Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Digger is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that he may not be used by other agencies for other working roles (some exceptions may apply depending on the reasons of release, such as volunteering as a pet visitation dog).
