A Legacy of Guidance and Hope: The Leung Family
Meet Roberta and Stella, sisters who have supported numerous PADS dogs from their first moments in our training program, through to their last.
Roberta Leung and her sister, Stella, have been longtime supporters of PADS, with a shared commitment to supporting individuals living with spinal cord injuries.
Over the years, the Leung family has funded four puppy bursaries, helping puppies take their first steps toward becoming life-changing assistance dogs. But not every PADS dog’s path leads to a blue vest. When some of the puppies Roberta had sponsored were released from the program, she found another meaningful way to support PADS that aligned with her desire to help mobility clients.
Today, Roberta supports Team Training Scholarships, helping future assistance dog teams become confident, capable partners. Through two weeks of one-on-one training with PADS staff, clients and their dogs develop the skills they need to pass their government access test and begin a partnership that can last more than a decade. These scholarships help make the journey to greater independence and companionship possible.
Through both monthly and annual giving, the Leung family continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of PADS clients and their dogs. We are deeply grateful for their continued generosity and commitment to our mission.
In recognition of their support, the family had the honour of naming one of PADS’ newest puppies, Astra. Her name symbolizes guidance and hope, a fitting tribute to a family whose generosity helps guide future teams toward a life-changing partnership.
Thank you, Roberta and Stella, for being part of the PADS story and for helping change lives, one team at a time.
