Meet Pixie II
What’s wonderful about Pixie II
Pixie II is a fun-loving, mischievous, and carefree girl looking for a loving and active family to call her own. Whether it’s visiting local dog parks, exploring new places, or enjoying long daily walks, Pixie is always up for a day filled with fun and adventure. A securely fenced yard where she can run, and play would be ideal for this high-energy girl.
Pixie loves meeting new people and dogs but may lunge, jump up, and mouth people in her enthusiasm to make new friends. She will need an adopter who will continue to work on her manners and loose leash walking skills and support her to stay focused around doggy and people distractions.
Like many labs, Pixie II is drawn to water like a moth to a flame but she’s not a fan of bath time. If there’s a pond, puddle, or pool of water nearby, you can count on her leaping in with all four paws and zero hesitation – beware of the splash zone!
Pixie II settles well in her kennel, rides nicely in the backseat of the car, and loves to cuddle when it’s quiet time at home.
WHERE PIXIE II NEEDS EXTRA SUPPORT
Pixie II is a social butterfly who enjoys making new friends, but her enthusiasm often needs redirection. She may lunge at people or dogs in proximity in her excitement to say hello. She will need an adopter who will continue to work on her manners and loose leash walking skills and support her to stay focused around doggy and people distractions.
Pixie II can also become vocal when she arrives somewhere exciting, such as a dog park or a new place to explore. Rewarding quiet behaviour and calm arrivals will help her learn to manage her excitement productively.
Like many smart, food motivated dogs, Pixie II likes to counter surf and scavenge. If food or other tempting items are in reach, she’ll consider them up for grabs. Her future family will need to be committed to management strategies, keeping food and other tempting items securely stored, and continue reward-based training to reinforce her manners and help her make better life choices.
While Pixie enjoys meeting new people, her enthusiasm tends to get the better of her. She has not spent any time around young children and, due to her size and exuberant greetings, could knock kids over when saying hello. For this reason, she would be best suited to a home with teens or adults who can safely participate in her training, help reinforce polite manners, and join her on the adventures she loves.
For the family willing to embrace her playful personality, energetic nature, and ongoing training needs, Pixie II will reward them with unwavering loyalty, endless enthusiasm, and a one-of-a-kind friendship. She’s a sweet dog with a big heart who loves deeply, lives fully, and is ready to find her forever pack.
HOME REQUIREMENTS
Someone must be home for most of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Pixie II alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.
A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.
Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Pixie II is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that she may not be used by other agencies for other working roles.
