The Great Shave Off

Sunday, May 2nd, 2021 - 1PM

What do you get when you combine heart, passion and adorable puppies with over a year of isolation and no hair cuts?

One incredible volunteer who is putting his money and hair to good use.

Shawn Laari and wife Cathy Beaumont have been PADS volunteers for nearly two decades – raising countless PADS Puppies to help change lives. This weekend, they are helping in a brand new way.

Last year, Shawn decided not to cut his hair until he was vaccinated against COVID-19 and nearly 14 months later that time has finally come. The shears won’t come out until he’s raised $5K for PADS, which he and Cathy have committed to matching for a total of $10K.

“Having been involved with PADS for over 20 years, you see the amazing work they do and the creative ways people step up to help support the mission. I wanted to do something to help. This will help not just PADS – but also pediatric cancer patients by donating my hair” said Shawn, of his creative plan.

PADS Executive Director, Laura Watamanuk, was overcome with gratitude at the news of the fundraiser: “COVID has hit charities like PADS hard, but we have persevered! Our community is simply amazing. Volunteers—like Shawn—are the reason we’re able to to keep placing these life-changing dogs.”

All the funds raised will be allocated towards the PADS Advanced Training program to ensure that even more life-changing dogs can be placed.
