ACORN joined the Burnaby Advanced Training crew this month and is such a loveable and charming fellow! He travelled to Vancouver Island with training buddy Dennis in mid-May to work with an experienced advanced training volunteer. Together with Dennis, Acorn will be working on polishing all his basics and practicing working in a new environment with novel handlers. Acorn is a sweet boy, getting along with everyone and he is always game for a snuggle! Since his training buddy is showing signs of kennel cough, both boys have been laying low until Dennis is feeling better. The boys are enjoying having each other to play with, even while they are “socially distanced” from other dogs for the time being!
- Skills being learned: Working on basic obedience skills, building durations, engage/disengage, BAT
- Recent field trips: New Westminster Quay, Trout Lake, ferry trip to Vancouver Island (Field trips were put on hold once his housemate showed signs of kennel cough)
- Possible behavior challenges: Nothing major to note
- Advanced training location: Burnaby
- Potential career path: Assistance Dog
Thank you again for all your support of Advanced Dog Acorn!
