Last month was hot, so maybe I shouldn’t have been so surprised when this month was also warm. This meant lots of frozen Kongs, air-conditioned car rides and low-key days inside. Another thing that this need to stay cool introduced me to was water! The raiser and I took advantage of our close proximity to creeks and playground water parks, wading and running through the water. At first, I wasn’t so sure that it was my thing, but after I got over the idea of getting wet, we had a great time!
Since my calm and default leave it has been major focus points for the last few months, we’ve begun gradually combining them. So when waiting at a bus stop, I may have kibble sprinkled in front of my snout and then I’m expected to ignore it (rude but effective). I’m learning that when waiting in the store or while a raiser is on a phone call, I get more kibble if I’m chill and not staring into their souls all the time. This new method seems to get me more snacks, so I’d say that it’s worth continuing to do.
Near the end of the month, I underwent a massive challenge by going to the PNE on a field trip with some of the other PADS pups. So many smells, people and distractions, but I was very successful. One of the hardest parts was being close-ish to the other dogs as they looked so fun.
I hear that we will be getting different weather in September, and I may even be cracking out my cool raincoat!
