I can hardly believe Asti turns 1 today, with Halloween yesterday, Birthday today and our first Puppy Class at the PADS new facility tomorrow, it’s going to be one super fun week.
She continued to brave the open-backed stairs and on her last attempt, she did the first half perfectly, but for some reason, she took me by surprise and decided to complete the second set backwards. I wish I’d had my phone handy as it was very amusing, to say the least. Reaching the top was our goal yaaaaaaay. We will have to be ready next time to stop and re-start forward first.
The huge Halloween skeletons at Costco did not bother her. She’s a confident girl and seems to take each new experience in stride and is certainly willing to try anything new.
The next adventure is to a new off-leash area, with a fantastic agility course. I’m excited to see how she tackles tunnels, walls, bridges, etc. Of course, we continue our daily leash walks and training, working especially hard on ignoring other passing dogs.
Myself, as a first-time puppy raiser, my goal is to remember to be consistent in my approach to training and to use the correct cues. It’s been a huge learning curve and one I have strived to do my best but also learn from my mistakes and most importantly, to have fun and enjoy the process. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect first PADS Puppy.
