Merry Christmas from Melon and the Advanced Training crew in Alberta! Melon got the best gift he could have asked for for Christmas this year – he passed his pre-placement testing! Melon completed his testing at the beginning of the month and spent the rest of the month going on some field trips and practicing/learning some fun job-specific tasks! We have introduced a “cuddle” on both the bed and the couch on cue and some fun tricks to show off such as shake a paw, bow, balance a cookie on his nose, and wave! He is always up for anything and is really settling into the AFD role. Melon got some well-deserved time off over Christmas but is ready to return to work for the New Year!

  • Skills being Learned: Chin target to lap, hug, shake a paw, bow, wave, and other tricks
  • Recent Field Trips: University of Alberta, The Cuff, IKEA, West Edmonton Mall, Macleod Trail Animal Hospital
  • Possible Behaviour Challenges: Motivated by other dogs
  • Advanced Training Location: Calgary

We’re so grateful for your ongoing support of Advanced Dog Melon!
