This month, Oliver has been playing around with some sound foundations and has shown to really enjoy it! He is quite in tune with the environment, so we think that he is going to make an excellent hearing dog. His favourite part about sound work is that he can break positions when sounds go off, which always means FOOD! Oliver is also working very hard to be appropriate with other dogs and to be able to be recalled away from them. We have been getting many opportunities to practice this with all this beautiful weather! On the weekends, Oliver gets to have some R&R with his advanced sitter at the lake and practice his skills there.
- Skills being Learned: Alerting to a timer, general obedience, food refusals, polite greetings/holding positions when excited
- Recent Field Trips: Homes Alive, Downtown St Albert, Public Library, West Edmonton Mall
- Possible Behaviour Challenges: Very motivated by other dogs, fidgety/busy/vocal when the handler is idle, can sometimes take a while to recover from things that worry him
- Advanced Training Location: Calgary
We’re so grateful for your support of Advanced Dog Oliver!
